Richard “Dick” Blumenthal the senior United States Senator from Connecticut moves an amendment to improve the safety of air supply on commercial aircraft.

His amendment to title 49 of the United States Code regarding authorisation of appropriations for the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) seeks funding to include under Section 2315 Aircraft Air Quality the following:

  • Educational Materials
  • Reporting of Incidents of Smoke or Fumes
  • Research to develop techniques to monitor Bleed Air quality

This is just another indication that US politicians are becoming increasingly concerned about the very high level of unreported fume evens and the 1000’s of cabin crew and pilots affected by Aerotoxic Syndrome.
